Advocacy

A Poem by Sarah Jane

Predispositions and prejudice

Pile high outside patient rooms

Drowning in dependency

Forsaken, some sacred oaths

This is self-inflicted, deserved.

But underneath preconceived ideas

And disgruntled demeanors

I see your troubled eyes

Peering with sad honesty

About what is on the armrest.
