Demeter

Demeter

A Poem by Sarah Jane

White with black stripes
Weathered and ragged
Tailfeathers blown through
With bullets

This is what I am thankful for:

Slow breaths and deep smiles.
Quite conversations
With loud preamble.
Humored compassion, Im grateful.
Big moments and small feats,
The moment of inspiration.
Learned humanness
Though unfiltered humans

I have the chance to watch
Dreams grasp opportunity
Fragile concepts seek individuality
What are we here for
If not to help others?
Who are we if not simply human?

White with black stripes
Weathered and ragged

What more could I be thankful for.
