Humoring Me

Humoring Me

A Poem by Sarah Jane

Palpable fabrication

Vivid fiction

Grasping threads

Fragmented

“You are the only one

Who means anything”

Thus ripping the seams

Connecting me

Thrashing blankets

Snapping laughter

I hear her downstairs

Though your candor

“You are the only one

Who means anything”

Thus fading the creases

Tethering me

Vivid fiction

Is still fiction

No matter

The details

I love this poem! It feels like the narrator knows good & well that she's getting a line of crap, but sometimes all we're in the market for is a line of crap. I love how she falls slowly, slowly surrendering to her inner vamp! You pack this with a ton of dynamic imagery & love the twice-used quoted line becuz if that's not a red flag, I don't know what is! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
