Amnesia

Amnesia

A Poem by Sarah Jane

Moments differ from memories
For their differences in speed
Looking back,
We have spent little time
Enjoying our time together
And we have lost too much
Trying to find the next second
To memorize its details
Not seeing it as a thief
Of its predecessor
Once we realize our loss
We turn too soon to remember
The edges of our past being to fade
The crisp imagery blurs
Becoming but a faint familiarity
Unwilling to part with it
This monumental second
We push on for more
Turning even more moments
Into unforgiving memories
