I've Been Looking For You

I've Been Looking For You

A Poem by Sarah Jane

Shards of my reflection
Dripping adhesive
A mosaic of dreams,
Dissimilar

Comfortable glimpses
Soaked with perspective
A glimmer of history
Familiar

Shards of our reflections
Flecked with distance
An echo of lost time
Conflicting

I’ve been looking for you - your poem points to self reflection for me with this title ... looking for me, who I used to be, feeling I’ve lost myself for quite some time and now want me back - the best part of poetry is how it relates to each reader :) I’d love to know what style this is written in with each verse being so similar in style? Beautiful write :)

I read a lot of longing in this piece. Everyone looks back on their history and sees the same events differently, "Comfortable glimpses / Soaked with perspective / A glimmer of history." I think most readers can relate to the idea of seeing the past through shards, some familiar and warm, some dissimilar and cold. I like the structure you used, and the tight, sparse language. It helped to draw me in and not distract me from the message.
