Submerged

Submerged

A Poem by Sarah Jane

I love bathing.
I love the way air bubbles from my ears
And how I shiver when the heat of the water
Touches my neck.
I love to let the water rise up to cover my eyes,
Letting it rest at the base of my nose.
I love the sound of the water running when I'm under
But I love the sound of the muffled waves when it stops
I love feeling vulnerable
Touching the parts of my body that are mostly hidden.
I love rolling my fingers along my hip bones
And feeling the softness of my stomach.
I love floating.
Breathing deeply and allowing myself to rise and sink,
Rise and sink.
Rise and sink.
