Without MeA Poem by Sarah Jane
There is a pull in my shoulder
A constant tugging in my teeth A steady reminder that without me Reality would be obsolete Responsibilities have built up Bearing an invisible string each Ceaseless in their caution That I stay within reach Because without me it would fall, This fragile world I bear Obligations resonate within Despite this stringed ensnare Eventually, to my knees I fall Snapping the cords that bite To my surprise and end demise The world stands out of spite "But you need me!" I scream As it recoils from my skin Yet, nothing crashes down Or collapses, as I did The world goes on spinning Without a connection to bleed It mocks the brunt of my burden Now that I'm free © 2017 Sarah JaneReviews
