Freedom isn't free quite like me

Freedom isn't free quite like me

A Poem by Sarah Jane

You were in you're prison
I was in mine
Only your walls were metal
Mine were my skin
We each ate three meals
and had time to think
Only you're free now
And I'm still trapped inside
Leaning against my spine
Wondering when Ill breathe
And not feel my heart crush
Wondering how it felt to leave
And when Ill do the same

I was okay with you being gone
Because we were sentenced the same
And I thought it hurt more
To know you were sealed away
But it hurts more to know
You're free, but not quite like me
And you haven't said a word.
