Away From Desk

Away From Desk

A Poem by Sarah Jane

Bathroom sinks call out to me
As I rinse my soapy hands
I tap a plug into the center
And take a mighty plunge
My feet hit the spicket
Turning the water off once full
My dimensions shrink too
As I fall into the pool
The warmth over rides me
As i float and swim about
Watching the giants
Wash their own hands
From my tiny sink I sing
Of peace and pay and food
Until a ping of guilt hits me
I pull the plug with tiny strength
And let the water drain
Crawling from the bowl
My body begins to grow
I step away from the mirror
Intently watching myself
Time to go back, it seems
A few paper towels later
And I'm leaving that sink behind
