The Hound of Insanity

The Hound of Insanity

A Poem by John Butler
"

The Hound is unleashed! Run as fast as your mind will carry you!

"
The Hound of Insanity had my scent
Baying for possession of a maddening mind
Teeth bared and hunter's eyes
Stealthily narrowed the distance

Too late for me to close the gap!
As darkness gathered round
Raised its glass and ugly head
Toasting my demise

Still I ran and raced my thoughts
Screaming inside my head
The Hound then pounced and done me in
Then howled and howled in that deep abyss!
