Landscapes Lost

Landscapes Lost

A Poem by John Butler
"

Heartbreak takes it toll as love moves on. All is fair in love and war..is it?

"
Landscapes lost as time evolves
Continents drift apart over millennia
Nature nurtures constant change
Change, it nurtured you

Hearts are countries unexplored
Fearless, I set out
Risking all that I possessed!
Ascending the summits of emotion

Men have conquered countries
As battle hardened lives were lost
Battle hardened hearts would fall!
Assailing your defences
.
Yet I was not your victor
Vanquished in the fog of love
Other men would set their sights
Claim their right to win fair hand

You and I would drift apart
Change, it nurtured you
Continents drift apart over millenia
Fragmented hearts are much the same!

This makes me so sad :( You catch emotion greatly in your verses.

My favorite line is 5, it really catches the eye of the reader. And seems to make a great focal.

You wrote this well. Thank you for the giving us this pleasure :)
