Post Nuremberg -A table awaitsA Poem by John ButlerThe Nazi's have been tried and hung at Nuremberg for their heinous war crimes.A table awaits them in Hell!
A table awaits, holding a place
In the foulest depths of Hell 'Sit down!, Sit down! echoes all round 'You!,with the tales to tell!' 'You!, who wielded the bull whip pain As the children entered the gates Stripping their clothes, and the flesh off their backs As they stepped from the coffin-like train The table was dank, unfathomable length Stretching deep into the bowels Tankards were raised, evil was praised 'Sieg Heil! Sieg Heil! came the howls 'Join us!' They screamed, your place has been set' An empty chair loomed in the mire The Angel of Death sat down in his seat 'Sieg Heil! Sieg Heil! now a choir A ball of dank flame seared through his soul Piercing pain shattered his brain. The screams of his victims fell on his ears Again and Again and Again! The table then shook and broke from it's roots! Taking off in the blackest of skies Flying back to the Camps and the millions who died To the wails, and the sobs, and the cries! That spectral table hovered in flight As thousands were gassed down below And flesh filled the ovens and ash filled the night! The Devil roared 'Didn't you know?!' Yes, a table still waits, holding a place In the foulest depths of Hell 'Sit down! Sit down!'will echoe all round 'You!, with the tales to tell! © 2015 John Butler |
