Our Family Garden in December is ThisA Poem by DMurrellI cannot but enjoy my Meander mind wandering river like Waters of up-north move down south Seeking the Gulf around Every bend. H2O molecules are kin or kith to Donkey’s “Are we there yet?” Am I goofy? Is (?) there an H2O molecule nearby now present at hand In the 45 gallon barrel over there Under the shed’s roof’s rain downspout with {perhaps} A molecule that once circulated Around Jesus’ body under John’s hands in the Jordan 2000 Years ago… if molecules of H2O remain H2O Then why not this bit of water I shower over this garden plot like … maybe… touched the Nazarine’s head? Mindful to remind Quincy the Cat to scoot on out of wet's way for cats do not like to be treated to showers I mindfully think. Just before God Almighty Maker of Everything and much more Offers up congratulations to His fleshed spirit below The one born to suffer while making things seem sooo Joyful in his being “Cheers.” And Pece incarnate in Mind and body as he does not seem to Calculate sweat and blood on his forehead Drizzling pre-Golgotha blues, “Little Red Rooster crowing while that fisherman is snoring… still The darkest hour cloaks the morning star.” His garden… Eden in a parallel mindscape?... I am not mindful of my mind as I spread Cotton Meal on December’s Garden plot of brown Corn stalks cleared ground. Thoughts spread too… as I fill my scoop gourd up with a couple of cups of fertilizer To swing my arm in broadcasting arcs many times to cover the whole of it Like a bridge in time and space... bridges... Connecting my winter’s hope for seeds In springtime’s growth. And this rather warm December day in the sunshine I feel a honey bee and hear her She is on my shoulder “Ummm? Why?” She flies… Entering their hive; others leaving. Our family garden in December is this at precisely Now in my mind and feet On the ground... sort of. © 2011 DMurrell |
