'The Big Lie has to do with politics. Has to be the people being conned". Dead soldiers look on, is powerful. I am reminded of recent events and the withdrawal from Afghanistan. I read that within a few days of that happening at least eight British army vets killed themselves. The USA is five times the size of the UK. Do the maths. I would imagine there were many who questioned everything after that shambolic withdrawal. I put myself into the minds of veterans and thought, what the hell. All that money, all those lives, all that sacrifice and for what? Thanks for the mention pal. If I can inspire anyone to pick up a pen, then I am smiling.

Hi Chris, yes the Afghanistan withdrawal has triggered a reported recurrence in Post-traumatic stre.. read moreHi Chris, yes the Afghanistan withdrawal has triggered a reported recurrence in Post-traumatic stress disorder among vets and a resultant uptick in calls to suicide hotlines, and of course suicides, although I have not heard numbers ...vets asking themselves just what you said. A reporter, whose name escapes me, suggested that vets might take pride in having played a part in (20 yrs of) raising awareness of what life can be, especially among girls and women (downtrodden for centuries) whose voices may hopefully now rise in a climate where the Taliban are desperate for foreign-aid (that requires humane standards).
...I'm sure I'm only one of many Cafe-ers you've inspired, Chris, so yes, Smile :)
