Pious Smiles

Pious Smiles

A Poem by Dylan Macadham
"

A poem in 12 lines; a critique of the Sactimonious

"

Belief is Opinion,

And Fact is Fact.

Often it is asked,

Do you believe in God?

And never,

Do you believe in Gravity?

It’s backwards, it seems to me,

Those pious pitying patronizing smiles,

Cast by Believers in the god-fearing Supernatural,

By the Self-Righteous in Belief,

Upon the Disbelieving Wretched, scratching about,

In a world where folks don’t walk on water.
