Pretenders to the Pen

A poem in ten lines, in criticism of hacks among us

To hacks of prose and verse,

So eager to share yourselves,

In hasty drafts, unrevised in clarity,

In less is more,

In word-choice and rhythmic ear,

In spelling and in grammar,

So greedily stealing time in bits,

From precious readers in your trust,

Are you not cancers on the craft?

Are you not pretenders to the pen?
