Mini-Play: ImpendingA Stage Play by Dylan Macadham3-Act Play in 12 LinesJack: “Why does life always have to be a goddam rollercoaster ride?” Jill: “Do you mean, Up-Down, Happy-Sad, and Going Nowhere Fast?” Jack: “The former, but the latter irks me too!” Jill: “I dunno, it’s just the Human Condition, I guess.” . . . Jack: “I thought the Human Condition was living with the awareness of one’s eventual death.” Jill: “Actually it’s living in denial of one’s eventual death.” Jack shakes his head. “Awareness, denial, no wonder we’re such a screwed-up species.” Jill: “At least it accounts for the rollercoaster ride.” . . . Jack: “And the going nowhere fast thing too.” Jill: “I wonder if animals experience ups and downs, and the feeling of going nowhere fast, you know, like an Animal Condition?” Jack: “Yes, they call it Eat-or-be-Eaten.”
