Jill: “What’s your default thought, Jack?”

Jack: “Baseball. Go Mariners!”

Jill: “BS. Answer the question.”

Jack: “You first.”

.   .   .

Jill: “Alright … the baby girl I gave up for adoption, at sixteen.”

Jack: “Whoa! I did not see that coming. Do you regret it?”

Jill: “Yes, bitterly, but my mother insisted it was the best thing, for me and the baby.”

Jack: “Do you believe it was the best thing?”

.   .   .

Jill: “ … For my mother, yes. Dad had just left us, she was drinking. But, I can’t forgive her.”

Jack: “Just a thought, dear friend, but maybe finding it your heart to do just that, to forgive her, could be a transformational first step.”

Jill’s eyes well up. “ … And the second being to forgive myself... ?” She weeps.
