Jack: “Most-admired late male actor?”

Jill: “Cary Grant. Handsomest, most charming, best accent ever?”

Jack: “Sean Connery, man’s man, babe magnet, best accent ever.”

Jill: “They can’t both have had the best accent ever.”

.   .   .

Jack: “Connery had it in spades. His deep-down-catacombs voice made his accent unique.”

Jill: “Cary’s rhythmic, sprightly-over-a-waterfall inflections douse deep-down catacombs.”

Jack: “Ah, but, voice-timbre is of nature, not talent-derived.”

Jill: “I’d agree, pal, if it were not for Cary’s singular case.

.   .   .

Jack: “And what make’s Mr. Grant’s case so singular in this regard?”

Jill: “He invented his accent. As evidence, have you ever heard it on another’s lips?”

Jack: “ … Now that you mention it, not once, not ever. Seems you have me over a barrel.”

Jill: “In a barrel, pal, sprightly over a waterfall.”
