Talking to the Stars

Talking to the Stars

A Poem by Marie
"

My experience with losing someone too soon

"

I think you would be proud of me

When I look back on the few memories we have

I feel like we were connected

You once told me

That I was a woman of few words

And to never let anyone change me

I like to think I did that

That I let people inspire me

But only changed when I wanted

Because of what you told me

You told me to never stop learning

I listened

I still read multiple books at a time by the way

I know you could never understand how I did that

But I like to believe

That it was one of your favorite things about me

That we were similar enough

And understood each other enough

To know how different we both were

I remember what you told me

And I like to believe

That what you taught me

Is what shaped me into the woman I am today

That even though our time was short

I took your lessons

And made them my own

Just like you would want me to

And that I now tell people what you taught me

So that we can all learn from you

I just want you to know

That I understand

And that I think you would be proud of me
