Solitude Comes CallingA Poem by DL ShacklefordA paracrostricSolitude
comes calling; Often days
together, we will spend. Loneliness
is not here; In her
place my loyal, precious friend.
Time turns
the clock around; Until this
breath I take, be my last. Do not fear
the present; Ever
learning lessons, from the past.
Come sit
with me a while; Old confidante, comfort me a bit. Memory but
shadows; Even
pleasing moments, not well lit.
Solitude
comes calling; Crying out to
help the deeply scarred. Answer her
as always; Lamenting
not this fond regard.
Linger here
in silence; Instill
faith of dignity regained. Never want
for visits; Gracious
friends abandon not the pained. © 2013 DL ShacklefordFeatured Review
