A Poem by dklp88

Fishmongers cry in the distance
Eel for a half-penny
Kippers for two

A hint of tangerine in the air
Only for a moment
To be lost amongst the rotting fish once more.

The sea murmurs with the song
Sung by sirens long gone
In an age of steel.

Cats long abandoned by careless owners
Make this their home
Each a king of the market

Yet as long and weary days pass
All disappear and the sea quiets down
And it becomes no more.
