War Cycle

War Cycle

A Poem by Scarlett Moon

The rubble crashes around me

Blood and ash are all I see

There once stood a mighty land

Turned to dust by my own hand

They tell me who to fight

I can't tell if they are right

I look up towards a bloody sky

And wonder if its all a lie

I use to dream a peaceful dream

Where life was like an endless stream

No life wasted on useless things

And the purest birds would sing

Was this really worth it all?

Two worlds made to fall

Another lie to fuel the fire

Consuming all with a burning desire

Blood for blood leaves all dead

And turns the world a scarlet red

Innocent blood flows in streams

Flooding broken homes with broken dreams

I stumble and I fall

Run straight into a wall

These buildings that once stood strong

Now lay broken and all wrong

Shouts of hate and battle cries

War consumes all in lies

My home has turned to dust

There's no one left to trust

I use to live a quiet life

Wrapped in the arms of a loving wife

A gentle heart turned cold as stone

As a bullet left me all alone

Was this really worth it all?

Two worlds made to fall

Another lie to fuel the fire

Consuming all with a burning desire

Blood for blood leaves all dead

And turns the world a scarlet red

Innocent blood flows in streams

Flooding broken homes with broken dreams
