DoctorA Story by Diana TaylorFor the people who are about to go to their doctor's appointment“It will only hurt a little, like a bee sting.” I raised my eyebrows up at the male doctor. What? When did a bee sting only hurt a little? Lies. It was all lies. As the doctor readied the needle I wondered about the substance that was about to be injected into my skin. What was it? I had no clue what substance was in the super pointy needle. I then had the realization that this situation probably wasn’t the best. I was putting my life in the hands of a liar who I have never met giving me an injection of a substance that I had no clue what was in it. To add to the list, he smelled odd. I watched the doctor like a hawk as he gave me the shot. He had a pleasant smile on his face but I could only recoil. How could he smile while giving a shot? He was obviously a monster. Once I was done I snatched the batman Band-Aid out of his hand. The doctor gave me a weird look as I smirked putting the Band Aid on myself. That’ll show him. The doctor left me after a moment and told me to wait in the room. I sighed, discontent but stayed anyway. A moment later, another doctor walked in looking down at some files. “Ms. Brown, how are you today?” He asked smiling. “I’m fine…can I go now?” The doctor’s smile faltered. “We have to go through your physical and give you the shots first.” “But Dr. Smith just gave me the shots.” I said confused. “Who?” “Dr. Smith…” “We don’t have a Dr. Smith here…” That was the last thing I heard before I blacked out for good. © 2015 Diana Taylor |
