My Deepest Sympathy

My Deepest Sympathy

A Poem by DEAN FARNELL
"

"based on a true story"

"
In my early days of posting
A postie new and shy.
I make the biggest ever gaff
And here's the reason why.

Old Ada was so popular
I'd been posting cards all week.
She must have been a well liked lady
The coolest on the street.

Ada was a customer
I thought was ultra cool.
Having posted 90 birthday cards
She made me feel a fool.

I said to Ada here you are
Happy birthday to you dear.
She said she would be happier
If my dearest Fred was here.

It seems the cards of sympathy
Were all for poor old Fred.
How the heck was i to know
That poor old Fred was dead.
