The Figure In The Dark

The Figure In The Dark

A Poem by DEAN FARNELL

A figure always watches me
Each time i go to sleep.
She lays beside me silently
But i never get the creeps.

She whispers when i close my eyes
I hope you sleep alright.
She tells me this without fail
Every single night.

I used to think it scary
A figure watching me.
I'm getting rather used to
My nightly company.

I wonder how she lived her life
Before the time we'd meet.
The presence of her body
I can sense it when i sleep.

I hear her reassurance
When i am feeling shaken.
I know that she'll had vanished
When i begin to waken.

I wake up every morning
But iv'e no need to search.
Her shift's already started
She's changed and gone to work.
