The Strange Thumps

The Strange Thumps

A Poem by DEAN FARNELL
"

"based on a true story"

"
Was a stormy night as i sat by the box
I heard these strange thumps on my roof.
It went on for ages, every 5 minutes
So i headed upstairs for a look.

As i walked up those stairs, I heard a quick shuffle
The thumps then suddenly stopped.
I checked all the rooms there wasn't a sound
So i thought i would look in the loft.

I opened the hatch i gazed all around
The noise it had just disappeared.
Whatever it was on that windy old night
A presence was certainly here.

If i'd just been more quiet as i walked up the stairs
I'd have caught my strange guest in the act.
It must have been scared, more frightened than me
As the thumping has never come back.
