The Stranger In The Dark

The Stranger In The Dark

A Poem by DEAN FARNELL

It's dark and It's late at night
I'm alone here in the moonlight
I see an image ahead getting near
Then suddenly It just disappeared.
I just wanted to get to my home
I'm afraid that I'm not on my own
I stopped, I waited, I stared
I shouted Is somebody there.
There's a stranger ahead I don't know
What does he want, where did he go
He's waiting for me to walk past
My heart rate is going up fast.
I decided to face him, not run
But what If this guy has a gun
My life's on the line It can't be my time
I wish I was home with my mum.
The stranger Is just up ahead
Bad Images roll round my head
I've no choice but stand and fight
In the lonely dead of the night.
I'm close and my fear starts to rise
But was I in for a shocking surprise
Convinced he was waiting for me
The guy was just taking a pee.
