My Soul Mate

My Soul Mate

A Poem by DEAN FARNELL

I was only 10 back in 72
I'd worn out my copy of Metal Guru
She tried to kiss me but I would run
This was where It all begun

Girls were too soppy for all us boys
Football's for us, and Tonka toys
But I did like "Debora" In a way
I played this song every day

My shoes and knees were always scuffed
I'd always look a bleedin scruff
She loved me madly with warts and all
My only love was my football

I was just a boy who loved T.Rex
Who thought that kissing was having sex
She'd search for me at dinnertime
One day she said you will be mine

Time has raced and Bolan's gone
T.Rex no longer No1
Now a couple, the years have flown
We'll stay together, never alone.

I'm with you now, for all of time
I'm with you always, you are mine
Fate has led us to this day
I'm by your side come what may.
