The Devil Went Down To Yorkshire

The Devil Went Down To Yorkshire

A Poem by DEAN FARNELL

The Devil went down to Yorkshire
He were looking for a cap to steal
The stereotype, from all the tykes
Just added to his ordeal

The Devil he picked on Yorkshire
And the Puddings played hell with his guts
He snarled at a whippet, his language explicit
When ferrets sank teeth in his nuts

The Devil skulked back to his hell hole
Sore from his head, leg, and thumb
The Yorkshire folks, especially thee blokes
Said nowt but ee bah gum
