The Poor Halloweeners

The Poor Halloweeners

A Poem by DEAN FARNELL

Halloween Is round the corner
I think that I should better warn ya
I'll buy your treats just in case
If by chance you find my place

Trick or treaters all pass me by
The night is quiet I'll tell you why
It's modern living, I'm all secure
Halloweeners come no more

Poor kiddies, shame they can't get In
I sit so smug with a smarmy grin
The unclaimed treats sit on my lap
Which I scoff myself In my new flat
