My Friend In The Box

My Friend In The Box

A Poem by DEAN FARNELL

He's dead but can talk
My friend cannot walk
He can give some the creeps
Whenever he speaks

He lies in a box
Up In my loft
His mouth open wide
There's nothing inside

It's sad he can't feel
I wish he was real
He drives me insane
When I am his brain

I pretend he's alive
To live and survive
My voice he can't hear
No matter how near

He's dark and mad
Sarcastic and sad
He's scary and funny
He's OK for a dummy

My lonely friend
Will be they till the end
And there Isn't a twist
I'm a ventriloquist
