My Shame

My Shame

A Poem by DEAN FARNELL

I cannot keep my secret,
Its bugged me all this time,
It haunts me when I'm cocky,
So its time to draw the line.

A teenager that was trendy,
I said I liked T.Rex,
But the back of my collection,
Were the records I loved best.

I love Sabbath, Slade, & Zeppelin,
I used to tell my mates,
But I told them all just porkies,
As they really were pet hates.

When I got back to my bedroom,
Alone in 72,
Some 45s were hidden,
What else could I do.

In privacy with headphones,
I'd play them time again,
Were records by The Osmonds,
As I held my head in shame.
