If's And Buts

If's And Buts

A Poem by DEAN FARNELL

If I'd not met you in 71,
I wouldn't be having all this fun.
But I caught that train in 82,
And moved so far away from you.
When I found a love In 83,
It saw the end of you and me.
But I told her back in 94,
I couldn't love her anymore.
But I lived alone in 95,
Determined that I would survive
But life was tough in 96,
I kept on going for the kids.
If I'd not been strong in 97,
I maybe watching you from heaven.
But I found your number In 98,
And discovered It was not too late.
It took a while but In 99,
I found you waited all that time.
