Unexpected Gift

Have you ever been given an unexpected gift?

Have you ever felt that surge of happiness

Upon knowing that someone thought fondly of you

And gave you a token of friendship

Out of kindness?

It’s like walking under the sunlight on a cold day

And feeling a sudden warmth all over.

I wish that’s how everyone felt.

Maybe the world would be a little happier

If everyone felt that surprise of being acknowledged.
