The Littlest Things

The Littlest Things

A Poem by Dan in TSC

When I see the shine from your eyes I know it true

All the things I want to do for you

I want to sit in silence just being close

No need to talk or be verbose

Bring you flowers for no reason at all

Spin you as we dance like you’re the belle of the ball

I want to make sure you have pen and paper

So you can plan our next great caper

Ensure straight lines are vacuumed into the carpet

Be a shoulder to cry on, without a word when your upset

I want to make sure you are always warm

When you fall asleep on the couch I’ll tuck in your form

Wine you and dine you, fancy or plain

Allow you to be you with never a need to explain

I want to leave little notes of love around

To boost your endorphins when they are found

Tell you how beautiful you are when you feel like hell

Make you soup and tea in bed when you are unwell

I want sneak sly smiles across a crowded room to each other

And watch you checks slowly flush with color

Spell little messages into your hand under the table

Give you a life that is sure and stable

Show you what you mean to me in the smallest of ways

Ensuring you know I will love you for all our days
