Pretty Playlist

Pretty Playlist

A Poem by Dan in TSC

And so at the same time we each break down again

Though hundreds of miles apart and each without a friend

Music being the language we use to cope

And quietly cry out for help with, we hope

We do not wish to disturb the world around us

So instead of seeking support we try and make no fuss

We hide away in melodies

Attempting to soothe our own fears and insecurities

Package up and put away the slights and wrongs

In a playlist of pretty songs

Believing that no one could ever understand why we feel

Reasoning we should not be a burden, not make a big deal

For these pains are ours alone to carry and remain unspoken

Yet here I stand, another, just as flawed and broken

Holding out my hand, ready to offer all the support I can lend

As your playlists have so often set me right, helped me mend

Across the miles and the silence I hear your cries

And I can still see your HoneyBrown eyes

I will keep my hand outstretched until you see fit

So…Please…Please…Take It

For it is never worth the anguish of coming undone and feeling ready to fold

When there is a steadying hand ready to grasp on to and take hold
