Sacrifice for appeasement

Looking up, darkness looms,

Dark clouds gather, crackling booms,

Thunder growls and raindrops plink,

Tension mounting with each blink.

Is it God's wrath or Zeus's bolts,

The heavens venting, unleashing jolts,

Appease, appease the angry sky,

A sacrifice to mollify.

But what will please the gods above,

What sacrifice will show our love,

Not goat nor lamb nor cattle's hide,

The gods demand a different prize.

Made of their creation, human-kind,

They demand a life of our own kind,

Fear and cower, but appease we must,

The sacrifice of one amongst us.
