Copper CrownA Poem by D ConnollyI was startled by the beauty of a tree in my neighbor's yardTwas trick of yonder setting sun cast gold upon the grounds The lengthening of shadows made monsters of my hounds Looking towards the bleeding sky to watch the sun go down I was romanced into poetry by the copper of your crown I tried to name the color, but names, they do abound... A lighter shade than ochre, not quite a sultry brown More golden than a fallow, camel, or any tawny that I've found No, there's nothing quite as pretty as the copper of your crown © 2017 D ConnollyAuthor's Note
