Cactus In My Pudding

Cactus In My Pudding

A Poem by D Connolly
"

A bud fell off of my cactus into my pudding, waking me up from a lunchtime snooze

"

As I sat staring at a blinking screen

And blurbs started to blur and become uncertain

I started to drift into a little dream

Lulled by the smell of garlic hummus

And the beep of the printer in the hallway

But before my eyes shut for good

I heard a thump and noticed that a furry pod from my sulking cactus

Had fallen into my pudding.

"Cactus In My Pudding"
D. Connolly"
Electronic marvels that almost take a place
of humanness in our lives..
.present but so boring, so monotonous:
"As I sat staring at a blinking screen
And blurbs started to blur and become uncertain"
It is no wonder that fatigue found you.
"Lulled by the smell of garlic hummus
and the beep of the printer in the hallway."
Thank you for pulling me into this simple life day.
"I heard a thump and noticed that a furry pod from my sulking cactus

You know "sulking cactus is so fitting for this sleepy
and darling poem. Sleepy Dani and sleepy cactus.
Bless you and all your hard work. You write so nice and it shows!

Well I can say with 100% certainty, that this has made my day. It is a dear diary moment I never saw coming, that I would ever read a poem called "Cactus in my pudding." :)
At least you can be thankful you noticed it before you ate it :)

No worries :)
pudding can be so soft and sweet..like a love, a relationship that sates us...but when those prickly cacti fall into it...the printer starts printing harsh, sad words...and it is an alarming beep we hear.

Haha - nice one D. I could see the whole scene - so well painted.

But for future reference - cactii are well known for their love of puddings and for having scant regard for the hypnagogic meanderings of their owners. So...perhaps swap it for a self sufficient plant like a Venus flytrap.
