Turn on the TV...radio
Garbage has a chokehold
Ignorance celebrated
Line after line
Same filth regurgitated
Minstrel show image
Perpetuated
As the hotness
Wake up people
Stop this
Madness
So many died for this freedom of speech
But we speak
Ebonically
Honestly
I’m sick of it
Kids quoting Lil Wayne’s rhetoric
Like he’s Jesus
Idolatry
For idle minds
If the blind lead the blind
Where are we headed
In the end?
Encouraging our men
To chase “every girl in the world”
Young girls rushing for the attention
Beautiful black pearls
Never recognizing their worth
Until AFTER…. the hurt
And they say I’m a hater..
Pop those bottles
Life is a party
You not keeping it real
If you never felt a Glock
Real you not
If you never stood on the block
Insane ramblings bout gun shots
And teardrops
Humming hymns of sex, drugs and violence
Miseducating the youth
With false truth
It’s all the same
Videos remixed and recasted
Gyrating vixens half assed
Drowning in champagne with names
They can’t spell
Fellas make it rain on em’
Shake it girl
Pop, lock and drop it
Shake what mama gave ya
Entertain massa’
The masses
Dance that jig
Jigga boo
Jigga what… jigga who
Silly nig-
I mean negro you
Get that money
Make that paper
You the man
Middle finger to all those haters
They give you money
Then you give it right back
If you got cash for Bentleys
Get someone’s child a degree
28” rims are whack
B.S. is big business
We buying it
They selling it
Come on now
These clowns will do or say anything
To stay relevant
Drug and gun charges bring jail time
When keeping it real
…goes wrong
Turn on BET, MTV
A million artists
Singing the same lame songs
And our youth blindly sing along
I can’t be the only one
That sees something wrong
Brother, this is my second poem I've read of yours and you sound mad. It seem that you have a problem with the youth which is crazy because your poems are mostly stereotypes. I have nephews and nieces who listen to the music and dress that way but that's not who they are, they have core values. I like your poems, I just think you should write something gear towards the young generation being misunderstood as well.

Interesting piece. I am all for free speech, but also believe that the world makes idols of humans. That is ugly in and of itself. Just as importantly, the kind of men and women the world chooses to idolize is even more frightening. And the media feeds this sickness to people....poisoning the masses.
You have made a stand with this piece. I would not say that I agree with every line, but I do like to see someone exercising their free speech in an unapologetic and uncheesy way for a positive purpose. In my opinion, there's far too little 'real' positivity out there.
"Revolutionary but gansta",I hope you know whose album title I am quoting. Ignorance is bliss...and bliss is happiness. I think you should find a song called "Premature Autopsies" by Wynton Marsarlis that will show you exactly how deep down the rabbit 'whole' we are.
A very direct piece here, I find it both moving but also adventurously prejudice. Delectable, shows deep consideration about one's surroundings. A good reply to "Haters" by Maya Angelou (have you read it ?).
Wow! This is by far one of the best pieces I have read on this website. Being a music lover, I can relate to the idiotic garbage that they bully our children and our children's children to swallow. I think that this is an eye-opening poem. Great job! Keep exercising your wonderful gift!
My name is DeWayne... but call me Mr. Johnson.. its all the same. When I was 10, I played house with all the neighborhood chicks. By 13, basketball was then, and still is my fix.... When I was 21, I t.. more..
