A Story by DCT ponderings

A worn out path covered with pine needles wound its way through the trees. Branches hung over creating cathedral arches climbing towards the sky and then swooping back towards the ground. Shafts of light poked through the green like stain glass rosaries dancing across my feet. The slightest breeze through the shadowy archway cooled my skin.

Smoke from nearby campfires intermingled with the sweet aroma of wildflowers and the salty mist from the Atlantic ocean tingled my nose. Birds soared in flight bobbing over head seeking the ocean. The mist wetting their wings didn't seem to bother them at all.

The path's mouth opened up onto an enormous rock which seemed to be swallowed by the Ocean. The dark endless expanse of the water waves extending in every direction. Descending towards their invitation I could feel the coldness of the water upon my toes. But the constant lapping against the rock closed in sending chills cascading throughout my body.

Despite the chill, the waves beckoned me to swim. Plunging off the rock the water cradled my body and brought me to the surface for another turn.
