Is There A Difference?

Is There A Difference?

A Poem by DCT ponderings
"

For CKB

"

How many times did you die?

How many did they bring you back?

What drove you to the edge of steel?

Your brother’s taunts

Your father’s indifference

Your step fathers advances

Your mother’s indifference

The numbness lost in cocaine

Your indifference

Every time you lay on your back

Their indifference

Here in Florescent glow

I wait, awaiting

Wanting to know

You said it felt right

as crimson poured out

You felt set free.

as you lay there

nearly drained

Pain emptied

Your thoughts to me

You cried aloud

                Out Loud

My lack of indifference,

Help!, rising in your throat

Now tell me

Do you feel any different?

This one has amazing depth and clarity. "How many times did you die?/How many did they bring you back?"--these two lines really stood out for me. This was a humbling read in a lot of ways, not just in language choice and emotional brevity, but also in the metaphorical significance. I'm impressed.

Deep...the spectrum of a prism always changes...a person evolves through even though they feel they haven't...meaning the colors are the same but that refracts and becomes different each time. Anyhoo, my deep thoughts for tge day lol...Lovely expression in your poem.
