Chapter 7

*6 Days Later*

Carmon was sitting at the huge dining table, eating his breakfast, when Kytia came down. She was dressed in the underwear and t-shirt he had left her in but had a thick, white dressing gown wrapped tightly around her small frame.

"Good morning," she said. Her voice sounded strong and healthy, a far cry from what it had been for the past week.

"It stopped!" exclaimed Carmon, jumping out of his chair and wrapping her in his firm embrace. Kytia laughed and he pulled back from the embrace, slightly embarrased.

"Yeah," she said with a small smile. "I'm ravenous, could I have something to eat?"

"Of course," said Carmon, putting a plate with some plain brown bread and a glass of water on the table. "We'd better not give you anything to dramatic or your system might reject it like it has been for the past week. I really don't want to have to deal with that for a while."

"I can't say I particularly enjoy vomiting," said Kytia with a smile. She sat down in the chair next to Carmin and ate her bread. Carmon watched her eat.

When she finished she licked her lips and said, "You have no idea how good that tastes."

Carmon smiled. "Why don't you get dressed? We have lots to do."

"What sort of things?" asked Kytia, curious and slightly puzzled as to what they needed to do on a sunday, in the middle of nowhere.

"You'll see," said Carmon with a cheeky grin, "At the moment you're going to wait in the bedroom whilst I find you some clothes. Oh, by the way, I think I figured out what the sacrifice I had to make for the separation is."

"Reall?" said Kytia.

"Yep! I had to give up my ability to heal with my magic on anything but a basic level. That's why I couldn't heal you of your period pains."

"No one would be able to cure me of that;  It's a curse, something nothing- no one- could ever heal. You still have your healing powers," said Kytia.

"Oh! That's sort of a relief. I suppose we'll find out what the sacrifice was soon enough," said Carmon, "Now, get upstairs and wait for me."

"Yes, boss, whatever you say, boss," said Kytia as she left the hall, shaking her head and laughing quietly.

Carmon came into the master bedroom ten minutes later and found Kytia lying on the bed, her hands folded over her stomach, gazing up at the sky through huge glass skylight. She didn't notice him standing there, watching her, seeing her fierce, feisty and mysterious eyes filled with wonder, for a long time.

"Why are you staring at me?" asked Kytia.

Carmon jumped, not expecting her to talk.

"It doesn't matter why I was staring at you," said Carmon, ducking his head in embarrassment. "You need to get dressed. I've put an outfit on the dresser for you."

Carmon walked out the room, leaving Kytia to get dressed.
