Natty PhantomsA Poem by David L. NelsonSubatomic assessment of our nature as we shop till we drop dead
Natty Phantoms
Natty Phantoms Born Blessed And Dressed To Dine
Temporary Bodies Dressed Up To The ninety-nines
Posing Like Immortal Statues
Digging Everlasting Diamonds From The Earthly Mines
Dressed Natty To The ninety-nines
Not Paying Attention To The Actions Of Atoms
Playing Roulette With Contradictions
Gambling With Worldly Addictions
Adding Pills To Subtract Afflictions
Nothing But Phantoms Dancing On The Clock
Smiling Into The Aging Mirror
Not Paying Attention To The Ancient Atoms In The Liquid Glass
Little Photons Swimming Past Lightning Fast
Gonna Live Forever Until The End Of Time
Stacking Stocks And Stuffing Socks With Drachma And Dimes
Born In A Blink And Die In A Wink
Packing Matter In The Clatter Of Time
I Wonder If You've Been Here Before
I Think I Know Your Bones
I See You Are Still Standing Still
Like A Statue Carved In Stone
Keep Your Eye On The Hands Of Time
For Soon We Go To Sleep
Beat The Drum Or Shout Your Rhyme
There Is No Time To Weep
But So Much Time To Sleep
So Much Time To Sleep
An Infinite Time To Sleep
