A Sizzling Cellulose Ascent

A Sizzling Cellulose Ascent

A Poem by David L. Nelson
"

Where a poet lives

"

 A Sizzling Cellulose Ascent

There's a sawdust ladder

leaning against a bright and blazing house;

the early flames

arrived at once

so soon, too late to douse.

There's a frozen stairway sliding

into a vast vacant vapor lake;

a chipped chocolate blade is poised

about to cut the virgin cake.

Where the asphalt turns to powder

and the ancient green takes hold

of old again

of no apparent ancient plan.

Where robots have no windows

they hurriedly bury their heavy metal heads

in a sea of sifting-shifting sand.

Where the vacuity of volts

unsparks the quiet concrete hour

and silence welds the velvet door

of the hermit's verbal tower.

I keep still... to spoof!  A passing statue

that sheds the skin of time;

I then ascend the sawdust ladder...

for the sake of sharing rhyme!
