Decaying/DiggingA Poem by D.Free verse
In the starlight, they slither around on the pavement and concrete.
Rotting in abandoned houses and slumming in alleys. Silhouettes shaded on young lives the outlines of decrepit outcasts. Pipes, needles, razor blades, pills and liquor bottles. Blood money before your eyes - started for greed, turned survival. Decaying their organs, their memories, and loved ones. - This path of self destruction is parallel. Day to day basis, memories repeating like a VHS loop. The rotting isn't external, but the body reacts accordingly. A labyrinth of zeroes and ones, forming cold vignettes. At the point of dreams, mostly white noise on black reflections. Repeated phrases stacking like casette glitches. Descending into cavernous teeth, clamping down on me. Maggots and roaches gnawing at the skin, digging for protein. © 2020 D.Author's Note
