The Same World of Grey

The Same World of Grey

A Poem by D.
"

Vague and abstract poem

"
Azure raindrops pirouette to the fields once lush,
Another brush of beauty in a slowly decaying landscape.
Beings of light dance behind a gray horizon, the beholder's eyes widen;
Shadows climb and fall with the encroaching sunlight,
Singing hummingbirds and doves dance wistfully through the forest,
He grew so unfamiliar with these images, he almost forgot how to adore them.
He hears a voice calling to him in the distance but it gets closer, with every syllable.
"Come on! You'll make it, your time is not over."
A sudden revival of consciousness and the droplets cease.
What color was trying to blossom through the storm washed vision of a ill-used soul?
It comes slowly into focus as his senses smart with renewed pain....
Not pain, but a surcease. Like laying on his arm until it is numb and holding it,
So the blood rushes in causing not-pain, only feeling where none has been.
A wild, unknown drug coursing into nerve endings and taking hold of his life,
In a death grip of rainbows that shatter and sparkle and scream of new birth
He does not think he will survive this but he must. there is no more escape.
