I was trying to put a body into the poem.

but I swear this on the scholars, that
I dreamed you as a s  w  o  l  l  e  n  f  o  o  t,
and (cradled) you as frac/ture—
who now reads the annals where prophecy
tells of this new tongue, the fa
                  llen  
                               form?
