A Chapter by Cyran Num

The bus passed a series of streets and roads, all seeming to be so familiar yet so foreign. Highways turned into tall flashy buildings and colorful lights. Streets were filled with pedestrians of all kinds. Business men, families, teachers and students. In eighteen minutes, we had left the airport and merged into Shinjuku, a special ward located Tokyo Metropolis, also known for the Shinjuku Station, the busiest railway station in the world.

Mr. Pratt stood up and held on to the railing of the bus as we cruised down the busy street.

"Listen up, everyone." He said. "We will be boarding the Shinjuku Train to head to Shibuya where the Sakura House is located. I have already requested our own train box, which took a lot of effort. This station is used by nearly all of Tokyo everyday, so you can imagine the struggle I had in requesting this. Once we get to the station, I will hand you your special train pass sticker that you will place on the back of your cell phone. This pass can be used at any train station and will not be charged as long as you don't go outside of Tokyo." He sent a glare at everyone in the bus. "So if I have any charges on my bill at the end of the month, please note that I will leave you behind on the trip back after this month. Is that understood?"

"Yes, sir." We replied, some shifting uncomfortably at the threat of being left in a foreign country.

"Now, I need you all to have your phones prepared when we reach the station. Also, set your time correctly on your cell phones. We left Tuesday morning at approximately 10:00 am. It is now Wednesday and the time is 8:00 pm. If your clock isn't set right on your cell phones, I will tell you that you are going to have a hard time here." And with that, he sat back down and took out his own phone, setting his phone. The other administrators and us students followed suit and set our own phones.

I stared at my screen, looking at my reflection and sighing.

"I swear to god Ishida, if you sigh one more time, I'm going to slam your head against the window." Eric said without looking up from his phone screen.

"I only did it once." I replied with a frown.

"No, you didn't. You've actually been doing it ever since we got on the bus." He glanced at me with his signature scowl. "What the hell? Are you practicing deep breathing or some who-do s**t like that? If you are, I have a feeling I won't like being here. Especially if you all do stuff like that."

"I see your ignorance is still present." I said. "After that little spill at the airport, I would have thought you would have thrown it to the past."

"Screw you, Ishida."

"What time?" At that, he frowned in disgust and made a gagging sound. "Are you practicing for me?"

"I swear I'm going to be the reason that they find you dead." He replied, scooting  away from me in his seat as far as he could. I chuckled and turned to the window, my smile disappearing as I watched the lights of Shinjuku pass by in a blur.
